Lokpal Bill Lokpal Bill was Submitted in Lok Sabha.The Following are Lokpal Bill Key Points 1.Lokpal will be a nine-member constitutional body with a five- year term, accountable to Parliament. 2.Ex-Chief Justice of India ( CJI), or a retired SC judge or eminent person to be Lokpal chairperson. 3.Panel of PM, Lok Sabha Speaker, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, CJI ( or SC judge nominated by CJI) and one eminent jurist to choose Lokpal and its members. 4.Up to 50 per cent reservation in Lokpal for SC/ STs, OBCs, minorities and women. Five out of nine Lokpal seats reserved. 5.PM will come under Lokpal's ambit, but with various safeguards. 6.He can only be tried seven years after the date of offence. 7.No investigation power for Lokpal. CBI out of its ambit. 8.Group C and D employees out of Lokpal's ambit; to be covered by the CVC. 9.MPs' conduct inside Parliament not under Lokpal's ambit Media and corporates out of Lokpal's ambit NGOs getting government or international funds within Lokpal's ambit. 10.Administrative control of CBI remains with the government. 11.Lokpal will only conduct an inquiry on the complaints received, refer them to CBI for investigation and can superintend on such probes. 12.After completing investigation within 90 days, CBI will file report to Lokpal on only such cases; Lokpal will decide to file chargesheet or closure report. 13.Panel of the PM, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and CJI to choose CBI director. 14.Other senior appointments in the CBI by existing panel of CVC, vigilance commissioners, home secretary and personnel secretary. 15.Lokpal can't take up complaints suo moto. 16.The process to remove the Lokpal or its members can be initiated if at least 100 MPs back it.
