Union Cabinet has cleared 51% FDI in Multi Brand Retail in India.The cabinet has also approved 100% FDI in Single Brand Retail.
This will pave way for MNC like Walmart to enter India.The decision will have huge political repercussion. Many Political parties including UPA allies are opposing the move
The fear is that it will be threat to any Kirana local retail shops in India.Those who support FDI in retail say that the move will reduce prices, bring down inflation, improve supply chain and will be a boost to common people.
